  • Expertspeak: Niya Mohan of Infosys addressing students at Silver Jubilee College in Kurnool

  • Infosys is planning to recruit 12,000 graduates in the current year in the wake of revival of BPO industry, according to Ms. Niya Mohan, Project Anchor, Infosys BPO Ltd.

  • Addressing the students of Silver Jubilee College here on Tuesday, she said the Infosys introduced an 80-hour training module for third year students of graduation named Project Genesis Training. The course was meant for teaching soft skills and English language.

  • She tried to dispel the myths associated with a job in the BPO, such as working on the night shifts, call centres, no career advancement and no learning. She explained that all BPO employees did not work on night shifts only as many of them had day shifts. Even doctors and nurses worked most of the time on night shifts. Similarly, the BPO work did not associated exclusively with call centres. The BPO employees had every opportunity for learning and career advancement.

  • On the job security, she said in private sector, every employee had to prove oneself every day. If one was prepared for this there would be no problem with the job security.

  • She asked students to pick good communication skills and absolute confidence since they had to handle global teams. The Genesis training was only an orientation programme but the real training for the candidates would start only after selection.
